OW started working with the imposing figure PAM PAM a few months ago shooting a music video of her fantastic single YOUR LOVE. Here is a preview and links to Pam Pam. More to come.

ORIGAMI AFRICA

In 2008, in conjunction with the OW solar project in Nigeria, OW sponsored Arisa Itami to come to the village of Ikot Osen to make her dream of teaching Origami, Japanese paper folding, to children in Africa come true. Arisa taught an elementary school class in this rural African village Origami for one week culminating with an exhibition for parents and villagers. They made various simple shapes, objects such as balloons and finally cranes. Some of the paper used was designed by various New York City artists for the project. The children, teachers and parents were enthusiastic to learn about a new art form. Please watch the short film about this project.

By The Way is a new book featuring a collection of fifty-one photos by Sven Wiederholt published in partnership by Sokyu-sha Publishing and OW. The photos were taken over a five year period around the world including Japan, Northern California and New York City. Most of the photos are in black & white with a few color ones. The book was edited by Ota Michitaka in Tokyo in the winter of 2010.
The accompanying videos capture to spirit of the book with movement and sound.

KAKISHIBU ZOME are traditional hand dyed persimmon tenugui from Kyoto, Japan

柿渋染とは、日本古来から伝わる最も古い染物の一つです。
布を丈夫にする、抗菌・防虫効果など色々な特徴を持ち、
古くは酒造りの課程にてお酒を絞る時に使う酒袋にも施されていました。
京都・大原より一枚一枚丁寧に手染めを施した柿渋の手ぬぐいをお届けします。

Persimmon dyes are one of the most traditional dyes in Japan. Since it makes fabric stronger, has antibacterial qualities, and protects against bugs etc. it is used for the bag in the sake making process. TSTSU BAI SEN is one of persimmon dyes used for these tenegui. After the tenegui is dyed it is put in the sun to dry where it turns brown, then more dye is added which contains iron to make the color even darker. All of the tenegui are slightly different shades of color because of this unique natural process. The more years you use it the more the color will lighten.

POOR PEOPLE’S RADIO Inc

OW is working on a book about KPOO a local public San Francisco radio station. KPOO is a community radio station that plays amazing music and has great programs. It is one of the few surviving no commercial, non profit community radio stations in the Untied States. As part of the project Kristin Wiederholt interviewed a number of DJs. SW took photos of some members of KPOO. The project is still in the works.

The Three Lunch

This is a scene from a movie project by OW staring Sheldon Feldner. The comedy is about an actor who gets his big break, an audition in Hollywood for a blockbuster film, and all the favors he has to do for friends and friends of those friends who got the audition for him. This lunch scene also features Juve Vela and Michael Brown.

Alex Frankel-Punching In

826 Valencia-Straight Up News
